2P : The Future Of Portable Multi-User Restrooms

During outdoor events such as music festival, concerts, fairs, etc I find it’s really hard to find the restroom area. Even when I finally find it, there are like 20 to 30 people waiting in line. Some even can’t wait and do their business on the nearest hidden structure. Just imagine the nasty urine smell. 2P should be our next generation of portable restrooms. It’s been designed specifically to counter the issues arise due to massive people at popular outdoor festivals. 2P allows 2 people using 1 single unit to do their business simultaneously into the same tank. It helps reducing waiting times by redirecting most of the male to the back side of the units where they are able to start and finish much more rapidly than before.

2P can accommodate more users with fewer units thus reducing the amount of space and cost. The 2P’s curvature design, integrated into both its overall form and into its structural support are reminiscent of water and gentle waves when multiple units are placed side by side. Arranged in these rows, the 2P creates not only a natural private space for male users, but each adjacent unit provides privacy for the individual.

FlooW and more

I’m still slammed with work after a couple weeks out of the office, but I want to quickly pass along a few links of interest.

I don’t have a lot of information about it, but FlooW is a pretty interesting mobility concept. You can read more about this high tech recumbent quadricycle design (in Dutch) onthe website, or better yet, check out the animated videos. I like the headlight integrated into the carbon fiber body. The optional roof is another nice detail.

This climbing bike storage/lock has been making the blog rounds. The DIY collar, made fromConrad parts, features motorized skateboard wheels that allow it to climb to the top of a lamp pole. Stay tuned until the end of the video to see it in action.

I posted David Parrott’s Trimtab 3×3 lean steer recumbent trike in June. Since then he turned in the project (his Master’s thesis) and has been test riding and refining a few details. He hasn’t clocked it at full speed, but claims that it does “19-20mph without pedaling and at less than full throttle.” See a video of it in action here.

We have all seen bamboo bikes (increasingly the last couple years), but this one from Mexican companyBamboo Cycles is a bit different. I like the aesthetic of the curved seat tube with the bamboo top tube, down tube, seat stays and chain stays. I am not sure how it rides, but it is an interesting approach.

Cả hai mẫu xe GTV 300 Via Montenapoleone và GTS 300 Super Sport đều là phiên bản hữu hạn nên chắc chắn chỉ một số ít khách hàng có cơ hội được sở hữu chúng.

Nếu phiên bản GTS 300 Super Sport được thiết kế theo phong cách thể thao mạnh mẽ thì GTV 300 Via Montenapoleone lại mang trên mình những đường nét có hơi hướng cổ điển trầm lắng.

Phiên bản đặc biệt GTS 300 Super Sport được trang bị động cơ Quasar dung tích 300cc và màu sơn Titanium đầy phong cách. “Với những cải tiến về công suất, phong cách, Super Sport sẽ luôn nổi bật mỗi khi xuất hiện”, đại diện hãng Vespa nhấn mạnh.

Trong khi đó, mẫu xe GTV 300 Via Montenapoleone lấy tên theo một con phố thời trang nổi tiếng ở Milan, Italia đã từng lộ diện lần đầu tiên tại triển lãm môtô EICMA diễn ra cuối năm 2009.

GTV 300 Via Montenapoleone sở hữu động cơ Quasar dung tích 300cc, màu sơn Nero, vành chrome màu ánh kim, ghế ngồi bọc da màu ghi và biểu tượng Via Montenapoleone in đậm nổi bật.

Giá bán chính thức dành cho GTV 300 Via Montenapoleone và GTS 300 Super Sport lần lượt rơi vào khoảng 9.990 AUD và 8.890 AUD.

Hai mẫu xe xe phiên bản giới hạn sẽ bắt đầu chính thức được bán ra thị trường Australia từ tuần này.

Hé lộ những hình ảnh đầu tiên về Fiat 500 Bicolore

Hãng sản xuất xe hơi Fiat của Italy vừa công bố những hình ảnh đầu tiên về mẫu 500 Bicolore. Mẫu này dự kiến sẽ là phiên bản quan trọng nhất mà Fiat sẽ mang tới triển lãm ôtô Turin ở Bologna diễn ra trong khoảng thời gian từ ngày 4-12/12.

Mẫu 500 sản xuất với số lượng hạn chế này được sơn màu hai tông, với màu đỏ ở dưới và trắng ở trên. Xe được trang bị động cơ 1.4 đẳng cấp thế giới sử dụng công nghệ MultiAir tiên tiến của Fiat trong năm 2011.

Công nghệ này giúp làm giảm khí thải và tiết kiệm được 10% nhiên liệu so với các thế hệ động cơ trước đây. Mức tiêu thụ nhiên liệu của xe thật ấn tượng: 6,1 lít/100km với phiên bản số sàn và 5,8 lít/100km đối với phiên bản hộp số sử dụng công nghệ Start&Stop.

Cơ chế màu của mẫu Bicolore mới này sẽ có ở tất cả các phiên bản 500. Mẫu Fiat 500 Bicolore sẽ có mặt tại thị trường Italy bắt đầu từ tháng 1/2011.

Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 có mặt tại Đà Nẵng

Siêu xe này có màu xanh cốm, thuộc đời 2009, đã cập cảng Đà Nẵng vào cuối tháng 11 vừa qua, sớm hơn dự kiến là đầu tháng 12.

Màu xanh cốm khiến chiếc LP640 thêm đặc biệt, vì hiện siêu xe tại Việt Nam chủ yếu là các màu vàng, đỏ, đen và trắng.

Theo diễn đàn Otosaigon, chiếc Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 màu độc này được nhập khẩu từ Mỹ, đi đường hàng không tới Hồng Kông, rồi về Việt Nam bằng đường biển. Xe đã chạy được khoảng 3.200 km.

Được biết đây là chiếc Murcielago LP640 thứ hai ở Việt Nam. Chiếc đầu tiên màu đen, “cư trú” tại TPHCM từ đầu năm 2008.

LP640 mang động cơ V12 6.5L công suất cực đại 640 mã lực tại 8.000 vòng/phút và mô-men xoắn cực đại 660Nm tại 6.000 vòng/phút. Với sức mạnh của động cơ 6.5L, Murcielago LP640 chỉ mất 3,4 giây để tăng tốc 0-100km/h và đạt tốc độc cực đại trên 340km/h.

Murcielago LP640 chính thức được sản xuất và bán tại Mỹ từ năm 2006 với 2 phiên bản: coupe có giá hơn 300 ngàn USD và bản mui trần có giá từ 345 ngàn USD.

Chữ LP trong tên xe là viết tắt của “Longitudinale Posteriore”, thuật ngữ tiếng Ý chỉ xe có động cơ đặt sau.

Việt Nam chế tạo thành công chip sinh học

Sản phẩm này hoàn toàn được thiết kế và chế tạo tại Việt Nam theo công nghệ vi cơ điện tử (MEMS), có khả năng ứng dụng cao trong nhiều lĩnh vực nhất là lĩnh vực y tế.

Sản phẩm có tên gọi đầy đủ là linh kiện vi cân tinh thể thạch anh (QCM - Quatz Crystal Microbalance), do Sở Khoa học và Công nghệ TP HCM đầu tư và được ICDREC (Trung tâm Nghiên cứu và Đào tạo thiết kế vi mạch Đại học quốc gia TP HCM) kết hợp với Trung tâm Nghiên cứu Triển khai khu Công nghệ cao TP HCM triển khai thiết kế và sản xuất. Linh kiện vi cân tinh thể thạch anh. Linh kiện vi cân tinh thể thạch anh có khả năng đo sự phân bố khối lượng rất nhỏ (cỡ nanogram) trên mỗi đơn vị diện tích điện cực bằng việc đo sự thay đổi tần số của bộ dao động cộng hưởng thạch anh. Bộ Kit tích hợp chip sinh học để phát hiện phẩy khuẩn tả. Do vậy QCM được ứng dụng để chế tạo cảm biến khí, cảm biến khối lượng kiểm tra bề dày màng mỏng, cảm biến y sinh học… Hiện tại ICDREC đã tích hợp linh kiện vi cân tinh thể thạch anh vào sản phẩm Kit nhằm phát hiện vi khuẩn E.Coli O157-H7. Chế tạo linh kiện vi cân tinh thể thạch anh tại Khu Công nghệ cao TP HCM. Ngoài ra ICDREC đang kết hợp với cơ quan y tế để đưa linh kiện QCM vào sản phẩm xét nghiệm nhanh người dùng có sử dụng ma túy hay không. Sở Khoa học và Công nghệ TP HCM cũng vừa chuyển quyền sở hữu 6 lõi IP bán dẫn (giá trị gần 10 tỉ đồng) cho ICDREC để đơn vị này thực hiện việc chào bán trên các sàn giao dịch quốc tế.

Replaceable Earphones

"Blinput" smartphone concept for the visually impaired

"Blinput" is a concept intended to make the lives of the visually impaired that little bit easier.

Baring something of a resemblance to Gordon Bell's legendary, lifelog pendant-cam, this concept harnesses the capabilities of the smartphone to allow the user to engage with an increasingly networked world. Blinput uses the phone camera to interpret the user's surroundings—as well as certain hand gestures, providing something of a navigation interface.

Developer Erik Hals, a recent Edinburgh College of Art graduate, had originally envisioned a new smart product to address the needs of the blind, but soon found that the network and camera technologies in the already widely available, and relatively cheap, smartphone were more than enough to build a solution around.

Blinput, still at a conceptual level, may need some work and testing—we're wondering, for example, how comfortable a visually impaired user would be in impairing an otherwise healthy sense of hearing with headphones—but you've got to give credit to Erik for an undergraduate project well presented with the video below.
